Before Creating a Quiz, you’ll be asked to set the following parameters for the quiz:
Quiz Title : The Quiz Title is the name that identifies your quiz. This title will be visible to students and helps them recognize the quiz among other quizzes Note: Keep the title simple and accurate to avoid confusion, as students will rely on it to identify the quiz.
Duration (in mins) : The Duration is the amount of time each student has to complete the quiz once they start it. This time limit applies to each attempt.
Start Date & Time :
The Start Date & Time determines when the quiz becomes accessible to students. Before this date, students cannot view or attempt the quiz.
This is useful for scheduling quizzes for specific times, such as during class hours or at the beginning of an exam period.
End Date & Time :
The End Date & Time is the deadline for the quiz. After this date, students will no longer be able to access or attempt the quiz.
Indefinite Quiz : Enabling the "Indefinite Quiz" toggle will remove the End Date, making the quiz available indefinitely after the Start Date. This can be useful for quizzes that are aimed to serve as ongoing practice resources.
Quiz Attempts Allowed : This setting controls the number of attempts each student is allowed to make on the quiz.
For formative assessments, you might allow multiple attempts to encourage practice and learning. For summative assessments, a single attempt might be preferable to maintain integrity.
Type:
Graded: Students will only see their answers and whether they were correct or incorrect. Correct answers are not revealed after the quiz attempt to maintain the quiz’s integrity.
Ungraded: Students can see both their answers and the correct answers after submission, allowing for learning and review.
Access :
Open: Anyone with the quiz link can access and attempt the quiz, regardless of their email domain. It is useful for public or widely accessible quizzes.
Restricted: Only users with an email domain that matches the professor’s domain can access the quiz, restricting the quiz to institutional users only.
Closed Captions for Videos : Enabling Closed Captions adds subtitles to any videos within the quiz. You can select the language of the captions if multiple options are available.
Important Note: Quiz Settings get locked and will not be changed once any Quiz Attempt has been made. This is to maintain uniformity and unbiasedness for the complete student group.
In quizzes that are used in SCORM format, the settings are not changed in the SCORM file automatically, if they are changed on the site. Users will have to download an updated SCORM file to use the new quiz settings.
